We finally decide to tackle the long awaited, much debated "new floor for our den" project. The debate (for years) has been whether to re "wall-to-wall" carpet or to put a hardwood floor down. We're a family divided; two want carpet, two want wood. The argument against the wood is based on our dogs scratching up a hardwood floor with their daily antics. A solution is finally agreed on: a wood floor, but only if area rugs are put down to protect it.
Day 1 - We go to Bloomies for their "75% off all oriental rugs sale." With furniture swatch in hand and spend hours going through piles of rugs (each one more beautiful than the next) with the help of the wonderful Mr. "P" and his staff. Persian rugs are out of the question - like velvet to touch, but out of our price range, even on sale. We end up with a beautiful 9x12 wool rug from Pakistan and a coordinating runner for behind the sofa. Yippee!
Uh oh - we take it home, roll it out and it's just not right. It fights the furniture - badly. Too much yellow.
